Acceptable Use Policy

RAI and The East Carolina Network

1. All use of Ruffin Associates network services shall be intended to facilitate the exchange of information and otherwise be consistent with the broad objectives of Ruffin Associates.

2. Users of Ruffin Associates network services shall not disrupt any of Ruffin Associates networks as a whole or any equipment or system forming part of its systems or any services provided over, or in connection with, any of the Ruffin Associates networks.

3. Ruffin Associates networks shall not be used to transmit or display any communication where the meaning of the message, or its transmission, display or distribution, would violate any applicable law or regulation or would likely be highly offensive to the viewer, recipient or recipients thereof.

4. Ruffin Associates networks may be used for purposes consistent with the goals and objectives of Ruffin Associates.

5. Advertising may not be “broadcast”, displayed or otherwise sent or shown on an obtrusive basis to any user of the Ruffin Associates network or any directly or indirectly attached network. However, when requested by a user of the networks, product information and services, and other commercial information may be displayed and permitted to be transmitted over the network.

6. Ruffin Associates shall have the right, at its sole discretion, to include and/or exclude any subscriber provided material for inclusion in the subscriber’s homepage. Modifications and updates to the subscribers corporate site, whether text or graphics, shall only be made by authorized Ruffin Associates personnel, or only with the expressed written advance approval of Ruffin Associates personnel and only in accordance with Ruffin Associates internal guidelines and standards.

7. Client agrees to present and store only legally distributable messages and information via the Ruffin Associates E-Mail server and agrees to present no unauthorized data via the Ruffin Associates server. While full responsibility for the content of the client’s e-mail directories lies with the client, Ruffin Associates reserves the right to remove any data that is explicitly proscribed by law. Upon removal of any unlawful content, the client shall be notified immediately.

8. A subscription to Ruffin Associates services does not convey ownership of the software developed on behalf of the subscriber nor does it convey ownership of the Ruffin Associates network services or any portion thereof to the subscriber.

9. Interpretation, application, and possible modification of this Acceptable Use Policy shall be within the sole discretion of Ruffin Associates. Questions about any issue arising under this Policy should be directed to Ruffin Associates by subscribing organizations when an issue first arises.
