For illustration purposes, we have assumed you have a new account and the East Carolina Network has supplied you with the information listed below. You'll need to substitute your domain name, User ID, Password and other information as appropriate:

Using the Web to Retrieve Your E-Mail
You may retrieve your e-mail using any web browser without having to configure an e-mail software client. This service is ideal for retrieving your e-mail messages when travelling or at other times when you'd just like to send / receive / reply to your e-mail.
It allows you to delete individual messages (handy when someone sends you a very large attachment you can't easily download), enter "vacation messages" and change your password or other account information.
Here's how it works:
If your e-mail address ends in "outer-banks.com" go to the following address:
[substitute your domain name for "outer-banks" if you are an ECNET virtual
domain customer with e-mail services provided by RAI]
Enter your e-mail User ID and Password and select "Logon"
You'll be able to view a summary of your messages, read, delete, print,
view attachments or send e-mail from your browser.
This service is provided without additional charge to all ECNET e-mail customers.
PC Users .... Eudora Pro or Eudora Light ... Installation and Setup (Eudora Pro Versions 3.11 and earlier ... Eudora ProVersion 4.0 and later may require you use the information indicated in the opening paragraph on this page.)
Once installed open by clicking on the Eudora icon. [Start ,Programs, Eudora Pro (or Light)]
Select "Tools", "Options", and "Getting Started"
Under "POP Account" enter: peanut@mail.outer-banks.com [It is IMPORTANT to include "mail" in this entry].
Enter your "Real Name": Sally Jones
Enter your "Return Address" (may be under "Personal Info"): peanut@outer-banks.com
Click "OK" ... Eudora will find your account and download the test message we have placed in it. Your mail will be automatically placed in the "In" box.
You must be connected to the internet to retrieve (or send) your mail ... so you connect the same way you always have with your local call to your ISP. Once connected you open Eudora and select "Check Mail". The system will seek out your peanut@outer-banks.com account box and deliver the mail it to you. When you send out mail ... it will be sent through the East Carolina Network servers (the SMTP server setting).
Finally, multiple accounts may be set up as follows:
Set up the first account as described above ... it will become your "Dominant" account.
Select "Tools", "Options" and "Personalities"
Select "New" and enter a name in the "Personality" box
Add your "Real Name"

Default Domain: leave blank
Return Address: peanut@outer-banks.com
SMTP server: ***provided by your ISP***
Check mail: click
Other settings are optional
PC Users .... Microsoft Outlook Express ... Installation and Setup
Once installed open by clicking on the Outlook Express icon. [Start ,Programs, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express]
Select "Tools", "Accounts", "Mail", "Add" and "Add Mail"
Enter Display Name: Sally Jones, Click "Next"
Enter your "e-mail Address": peanut@outer-banks.com, Click "Next"
Select "POP3" in the server Type window
Enter Incoming Mail Server: mail.outer-banks.com [it is IMPORTANT to include "mail" in this entry].
Enter outgoing mail server "SMTP": ***Provided by your ISP*** Click "Next".
Enter: Log on using: POP Account Name: peanut
Enter: Password: pword123, Click "Next"
Enter a "friendly name": My Outer Banks Account, Click "Next"
Select a Connection Type: Connect using my phone line (most likely), Click "Next"
Click "Finish"
Select "Close"
Once connected to the internet .... select "Tools", "Send and Receive", "My Outer Banks Account" to retrieve your test message.
At the logon prompt enter your User Name: peanut, and Password: pword123, select "Remember Password" and Click "OK"
Check your "In Box" for the test message.
Mac Users .... Eudora Pro, Eudora Light and Microsoft Outlook Express ... Installation and Setup
It has long been recognized that Mac users are the elite in the computer industry ... so it should come as no surprise that these highly intelligent and sophisticated computer jocks don't require formal installation instruction. Set-up and Mac system configuration is similar to that described above.
